We are currently seeking a qualified Certified Registered Staff RN for a VA Hospital in Minnesota.

2 Night shift
Either set up for 8-hour day/night 0730-1600, 1530-2400, or 1130-2000; or 12-hour
PM/Night (1930-0800) options.
7 day a week, 24 hours per day operation to include holidays. The shift times listed below are the most common but are not exhaustive. Eight and 12 –hour work shifts include a 30-minute non-paid lunch/dinner break period. All shifts will provide 15-minute breaks every 4 hours
Job Duties :
Consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans Prepares and administers (orally, subcutaneously, through an IV) and records prescribed medications. Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with the policy regarding the administration of medications by a licensed registered nurse Records patients’ medical information and vital signs Assesses the patients’ ability to do routine daily tasks Assists patients with such basic needs as dressing, eating, and bathing, and encourages patients to do things for themselves to retain feelings of independence and self-esteem Recognizes and manages geriatric syndromes common to older adults, including: cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, urinary, hematological, musculoskeletal, endocrine, neurological, psychiatric/psychosocial, integumentary, sensory and pain problems Prepares equipment and aids physician during examination and treatment of patient Facilitates older adults’ active participation in all aspects of their own health care Involves, educates, and when appropriate, supervises family/significant others in implementing best practices for older adults Promotes the desirability of quality end-of-life care for older adults Records all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms Performs other position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment setting
Medical-Surgical Nurse Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
- Certified -RN preferred.
- State-approved nursing licensure.
- At least two years’ experience as a medical-surgical nurse in a similar facility.
- Competency in electronic patient management systems such as e-MDs Chart and Mediexcel.
- Extensive experience in monitoring a broad range of medical conditions.
- In-depth knowledge of best practices in medical-surgical nursing.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Superb interpersonal, communication, and collaboration abilities.
- Availability to work shifts that rotate between days, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
