Patient Volume:  8-10 patients per day average
Patient Ages:  all ages (majority adults)
Support Staff: yes – Dentists, Hygienist, admin
Type of Charting: EMR – Dentrix
Requirements:  1-year Dental Assistant experience (preferred)

Reason for Need: staff shortage
Credentialing Timeframe:  2-3 weeks on average

Job Duties:

  • Answering phones and scheduling appointments
  • Updating and maintaining patient dental records
  • Overseeing patient check-in procedures
  • Coding and preparing insurance forms.
  • Scheduling referral and testing appointments
  • General office administration
  • Showing patients to their exam rooms
  • Preparing patients for procedures and/or surgeries
  • Assisting with procedures such as fillings, crowns, and extractions
  • Making dental impressions
  • Sterilizing dental tools and equipment
  • Post-procedure clean-up

Pay Rate Details Below:

The 2 packages that we can offer are:

Option #1:
This was the original offer.

$20.20/hr pay +$4.80/hr Health & Wellness benefits (total of $25/hr).

DAX will arrange and pay for round trip travel, lodging (hotel or Airbnb), rental car and $50 per workday for per diem. 

Earning 1 hour of PTO for every 30 hours of work. You would also receive all Federal Holidays paid time off.

Option #2:

$25/hr (20.20 +4.80) for all hours worked $25/hr per diem for all hours worked
DAX pays ONLY for the rental car, provider is responsible for lodging expenses & round-trip travel.

Saturday and Sunday shifts serve hospital inpatients, emergency department and our Saturday morning clinic. Staff are scheduled five 8-hour shifts per week, rotate working weekends/holidays and share the weekday evening/overnight and weekend/holiday on-call time. Shift start times are staggered from about 5:30am to 9:00am to help cover the full weekdays. Weekend shift start at 6am. NCH will consider a schedule of four 10-hour days per week plus on-call. This is a great opportunity in a busy laboratory in a rural critical access hospital. The Norton County Hospital is a 25-bed critical access hospital and Level IV trauma center. Along with the Norton Medical Clinic, NCH provides medical services for residents in Norton County and surrounding northwest Kansas and southwest Nebraska communities. NCH provides inpatient care, emergency room, labor/delivery, surgery, a full range of outpatient ancillary services and has several visiting physician specialty clinics. This is a great opportunity in a busy laboratory in a rural critical access hospital.

  • Performs a wide range of PTA duties requiring practical knowledge of physical therapy, evidence-based medicine and data collection to perform specific aspects of evaluations and interventions.
  • The PTA works under the clinical supervision of a Physical Therapist (PT), PT NCOIC, or PM Flight Chief. The PTA independently performs day-to-day duties with the supervisor providing oversight and guidance on the nature of therapeutic activities and the rehabilitation program.
  • Under the direction of the PT, the PTA coordinates, and administers diverse physical therapy programs for wounded, ill and injured service members, as well as other beneficiaries, with a wide range of physical and behavioral health diagnoses and disabilities.
  • The PTA provide interpretation of PT' s findings to initiate care, considering patients, neurological, surgical, sensory, respiratory, cardiac status, gait ability, posture, age, and general health.
  • Determines the length of patient treatment period and makes recommendations for the various modalities of physical therapy, as prescribed, to include hydrotherapy, ultrasound, soft-tissue massage, electrotherapy, therapeutic exercise, and inpatient care duties.
  • The PTA follows a patient progressive treatment plan to restore and maintain range of motion, strength, endurance, coordination, relaxation as well as promote healing, pain relief and improvement of functional independence.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be U.S. Citizen (for access to Gov' t computer systems) (NO exceptions)
  • Possess a degree or certificate in dental hygiene from a school of dental hygiene approved by the Council on Dental Education of the ADA
  • Hold a current, unrestricted license to practice as a Dental Hygienist or Dental Assistant in any one of the fifty States, the DC, Puerto Rico, or U.S. Territories
  • Minimum 12 months experience within the preceding 24 months, OR have graduated from ADA approved dental hygiene program within last 12 months
  • Have either (a) successfully completed at least 12 classroom hours of continuing dental hygiene education within the preceding 18 months which maintain skills and knowledge in dental hygiene and preventive dentistry OR (b) graduated from an ADA approved dental hygiene program within the preceding 12 months
  • Provide letters of clinical competency from two practicing dentists attesting to the HCW s clinical skills; if a recent graduate, the letters of clinical competency may be either from practicing dentists or from faculty members where the dental hygiene degree was received; letters must be within the last three years
  • SCHEDULE: Monday- Friday, 8:30AM - 4:30PM, 8 hour shifts

DUTIES:

  • 8-10 Patients Daily
  • Inspect head and neck, examine mouth, throat and pharynx for evidence of disease such as oral cancer and/or soft tissue pathosis
  • Expose, develop and interpret radiographs to identify tooth structure, periodontal support and other abnormalities such as periodontal bone loss, periapical pathosis, caries, defective restorations, improper tooth contours and contact relationships
  • Refer suspected medical conditions, hard and soft tissue abnormalities, caries, periapical and periodontal pathosis and traumatic or suspicious lesions to the dental officer for evaluation
  • Obtain blood pressure on patients presenting for treatment
  • Perform subgingival scaling, root planning and curettage under local anesthesia administered by a dental officer and perform topical fluoride applications
  • Plan and adapt oral home care techniques to the specific need of the individual patient
  • Monitor, provide technical direction and assist in training dental technicians involved in direct patient care to perform scaling, prophylaxes, polishing procedures, fluoride applications and oral home care instructions; this may include preparing and presenting scheduled lectures to staff
  • Maintain a record of patient treatment and number of patients treated
  • Record oral condition of teeth and supporting tissues, type of therapy provided and progress notes
  • Clean and maintain instruments and ensure their sterility
  • Treat acute necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis
  • Assist in Oral Diagnosis Sick call to include exposing and developing periapical, bitewing and panoral radiographs
  • Clean and maintain the work area to meet the clinic' s standards, and may be assigned other duties as directed by the Commanding Officer, consistent with the normal duties of a dental hygienist
  • Administration of local anesthesia (infiltration and block anesthesia) is not a required qualification; however, if the appropriate background training and credentials exist, clinical privileges may be granted

Dates coverage is needed: Anticipated start date early May – 6 months (with option to extend)

The Physical Therapy Assistant provides care for our nations active duty service members, their families, and retirees. The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) is a full-time position, 80 hours per two weeks, 8 hour day shifts, Sun - Sat, between 7: 30AM to 4: 30PM.   • Provide guidance, mentor-ship and tutelage to fellow PTA' s, Physical Therapy/Occupational Technicians, Physical Therapy/Occupational intern students.
  • Performs weekend on-call coverage in the inpatient setting per clinic mission requirements.
  • Provides direct therapeutic care to a diverse patient population with a variety of patient diagnoses to include but not limited to: TBI, orthopedic, podiatric, neurological, neuromuscular disorders, burns, ambulatory and no ambulatory patients.
  • Performs a wide range of PTA duties requiring practical knowledge of physical therapy, evidence-based medicine and data collection to perform specific aspects of evaluations and interventions.
  • The PTA works under the clinical supervision of a Physical Therapist (PT), PT NCOIC, or PM Flight Chief. The PTA independently performs day-to-day duties with the supervisor providing oversight and guidance on the nature of therapeutic activities and the rehabilitation program.
  • Under the direction of the PT, the PTA coordinates, and administers diverse physical therapy programs for wounded, ill and injured service members, as well as other beneficiaries, with a wide range of physical and behavioral health diagnoses and disabilities.
  • The PTA provide interpretation of PT' s findings to initiate care, considering patients, neurological, surgical, sensory, respiratory, cardiac status, gait ability, posture, age, and general health.
  • Determines the length of patient treatment period and makes recommendations for the various modalities of physical therapy, as prescribed, to include hydrotherapy, ultrasound, soft-tissue massage, electrotherapy, therapeutic exercise, and inpatient care duties.
  • The PTA follows a patient progressive treatment plan to restore and maintain range of motion, strength, endurance, coordination, relaxation as well as promote healing, pain relief and improvement of functional independence.
  • The PTA administers physical therapy treatment programs requiring a multifaceted approach determined by the patient' s physical and mental conditions, which draws upon the use of both standard and nonstandard treatment procedures.
  • Interpersonal skills are utilized in patient instruction, education, motivation, and coordination with physical therapy staff and the patient' s families, to ensure compliance with stated therapeutic goals. Care involves a general knowledge in several areas of therapy, i.E. Vestibular, post-surgical orthopedic patients, medical patients, neurological patients, poly trauma patients, and post myocardial infarction patients.
  • Instruct patients in the use and care of prosthetics, including gait training and related exercise programs.
  • Exercise responsibility for the comfort and well-being of patients.
  • Determine treatment objectives, judges whether the treatment is causing an adverse effect on other conditions not under treatment.
  • Conducts therapy studies to track impact on patients, long and short-term effects of different types of therapy, and appropriateness of a specific therapy.
  • Maintains patient treatment records by writing reports covering initial evaluation of patients, patient progress, and treatment determination.
  • Assists with transfer or follow-up care of patients in this or other medical facilities, by annotating progress and coordination with the appropriate department.
